The doctorate degree of business administration program at a Minneapolis university recently was accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. The school's master's and bachelor's programs for its business administration degree earned accreditation in 2011.

"When applying for promotions and jobs, human resources and the hiring managers usually take into consideration, among other factors, your grade point average, university attended, and if the university is accredited by a recognized accreditation council," said Nelson L. Mellitz, a DBA student at the institution. "The [program], which is now accredited by ACBSP, has been a wonderful asset to help me meet my daily work requirements. The courses provide information that is directly and immediately applicable to successfully accomplishing my consulting and teaching jobs."

The ACBSP was founded in 1988 to identify and support excellence in business education at all levels: associate, baccalaureate and graduate degrees. Its standards are modeled after the Baldridge Performance Excellence Program, which is used by business, the government and other organizations.

The recent announcement means the university's entire School of Management is accredited by the body.
