As the demand for qualified educators continues to grow, individuals who hold masters degrees are expected to see the best career prospects.
Greater numbers of adults are choosing to enhance their educational qualifications by enrolling in classroom-based and online college courses. Consequently, the need for teachers who are qualified to work with nontraditional students is expected to rise.
To fill this demand, a Kansas-based school has announced the launch of an online college degree program in adult and continuing education, Kansas City Infozine reports. The graduate-level course of study will require degree candidates to complete 33 credit hours in a fully web-based format.
Although the school has offered this masters degree program for the past 25 years, college officials say that the new online format is intended to benefit working professionals who wish to keep their jobs while they obtain higher education. The curriculum emphasizes the professional needs of individuals who teach adults as well as their roles as leaders, teachers, managers and program developers.
Because students can complete their studies on their own time, they may be able to immediately apply what they have learned to their current jobs.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the demand for postsecondary educators is expected to increase by 15 percent over the next eight years.
